When I found out the current Chicago Federal Plaza was once home to this building, I pretty much thought it was a joke. I can’t fathom putting those faceless monoliths in place of a place that radiated grandeur and authority like that. But hey, that’s me. You don’t agree? Start your own webcomic. :)
(The title is a reference to this book about Richard Nickel, a preservationist in Chicago in the ’60s. He died while trying to save material from the demolished Chicago Stock Exchange. My small tribute.)
wow, that’s incredible! I remember on grade school fieldtrips (which were on too!) being taught that the only historical building left in Chicago is the watertower because the great Chicago Fire ate all the others. They never told us that buildings were actually torn down for the new ones! I call bullshit.
..d’oh I mean “which you were on too”.
and I call bullshit on Thomas Jefferson Elementary, not on your webcomic.
ohhhh yeah. I could go on for hours. (for the sake of readership I won’t.)
@ Lisa, as a Thomas Jefferson Elem Alum myself, what did TJ ever do to you;-)? @ Shannon, will daniel experience any ghosts outside the lighthouse? or is he completely paranormally inept? just a thought…
Rob, you’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you? ;)
A building fit for a soulless institution.
