Happy Towel Day! For those not in the know, it’s a celebration of the life and works of Douglas Adams, author of the unassailable Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. Mr. Adams has been influencing me ever since I played H2G2 as an interactive fiction game when I was but a youth, before I read any of the books. There’s something so dry, so observant, so…British about his wonderful writings. He is and always will be missed.
As a tribute, I drew Daniel all dressed to the nines, towel in hand. (Click to enlarge.)
In fine Adams tradition, I didn’t quite manage to get my drawing up in time, but hey, just pretend we’re all on the West Coast, mmkay? ;)
Trying out a slightly different style. I really admire the beauty of line weight that folks like Scott Kurtz and Spike bend to their will, so I’m taking a crack in that direction. Hope you like it!
For the non-video gamers out there: this is a big deal.
You may notice Daniel’s got some snazzy décor in his apartment. On the right, we have a poster from the seminal computer overlord sci-fi movie Tron, which I viewed for the first time just recently. (would view again; in fact, I plan on it!) On the left we have a poster of Angel Eye from Evan Dahm’s Rice Boy. I enjoyed watching Evan’s Ustream so much on Saturday that I decided to throw that up there. I hope it does him justice.
Yes…Navy Pier, while garnering a reputation for being a tourist magnet/local repellent, is the best vantage point for seeing the Harbor Light in action.
I tend to avoid it because it gets my dander up (and nobody wants that), but Passive Aggressive Notes is as advertised: a website that highlights the great communication breakdowns between us all. Thank goodness I’ve never had anything show up on there. …On second thought, maybe I should check it more often.
For Wighthouse’s six-month anniversary, I wanted to do something a little different. Enjoy!
