It has been rather a long time since Daniel’s done any architecture tours, hasn’t it? Maybe “love” is too strong a word, but he does hold a certain fondness for the city as a whole, and introducing its beauty to the worthy. Along those lines, Blair Kamin of the Chicago Tribune noted yesterday that the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust will be running 30-45 minute tours of the amazing Rookery downtown, a building that (besides going to the Potbelly ensconced within) I have yet to fully appreciate. Starting Friday, the 30-minute tours are free; the 45-minute ones cost $10 to be able to stand in the same room where Daniel Burnham (D’s namesake) and John Root dreamed up so many fantastic edifices. That’s a sawbuck with which I’d gladly part.

I’ve never shown up on my sibling’s doorstep drunk as a skunk, but I can imagine this is how I’d be awoken, if not by a cat to the face.
