One Mr. Art Frederick (of Jacq of All Blades fame) brought the following to my attention:

Extremely cold temperatures caused the crashing waves from Lake Erie to freeze on the surface of the Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse forming a bizarre structure – much like a sand castle.

The Flickr account tells a story in pictures, showing something akin to a child’s faraway dream. Compare those pics to these and you begin to see the extent of metamorphosis. Cleveland has really been hit hard so far this winter, and this lighthouse is no different. I’m not saying that the CHL has ever been iced over like this, but who knows what Chicago winters can bring?
