Sorry for the delay, folks. A headache swept in along with the storms last night, rendering me incapable of finishing what I’d started.
For the non-Chicagoans among you, Navy Pier is not only the closest landmass to the Chicago Harbor Light, but it’s a huuuuge tourist mecca. In addition to the Ferris wheel, mini-golf course, and plethora of foods both fatty and fried, it’s got a huge ballroom, the wonderful Dreihaus stained glass museum (it’s free!) and a bunch of other stuff I’m sure the kiddies would enjoy. Not me, though; going to NP always makes me want to choke a bitch.
Disclaimer: the mini-golf course was, to my surprise, rather anemic. To really get the full experience, I heartily recommend Novelty Golf & Games, aka the Bunny Hutch, at Lincoln and Devon. Fun stuff!
I don’t hate Navy Pier, but as a local, it just doesn’t really have any use unless one is really bored and looking for somewhere to walk around. I also remember one of my classmates getting sort of attacked by a flock of seagulls (the bird, not the band) during a grade school field trip there.
it’s also a horrible place to go if you’re single. maybe not when it’s packed, but it was when I went on Monday.
Haha, we went there for “post prom”, my lame date and I.
I did have one awesome experience at NP once though, in the late 90s when I was in college and big into swing dancing, I went to a 1940s-style dance in the ballroom…that was rad.
