Welcome to chapter two of Wighthouse, the second-most chapter there is!
A little background: the San Diego is a play on the Santa Fe building, where the Chicago Architecture Foundation maintains its headquarters. You’ll notice Daniel works not for the CAF, but for Windy City Architecture, for two reasons: 1. I’m unsure of the sueability of using the CAF in the strip, and 2. CAF’s docents don’t get paid. Sure, he inherited a bunch of stuff, but the guy still needs some steady scratch.
the first panel for some reason, makes me think of that really dramatic overdub you here in movies sometimes…”Meanwhile, behind the fascade {sic} of this innocent… looking… hi-rise” ;-)
at first, i was like, “san diego?” then i looked at the drawing and knew exactly what building you were spoofing. great job!
Rob, now for some reason, that is reminding me of White Zombie. :)
